Solid Cars by Maison Deux
Let's ride with style!
Toys that will last for generations.
Dutch interior & lifestyle brand Maison Deux launched last week a series of minimalist cars called Solid Cars. The wooden archetype cars are designed by designer Lex Pott. By eliminating all the details of a car, Lex Pott comes to the visual core of the object, thus making a toy that triggers children's imagination and doubles as a wooden art object for all generations.
The series of Solid Cars consist out of a Bus, a Race Car and a Car. The body is crafted out of one piece of solid FSC-certified oak and finished with walnut wheels. A long-lasting object that combines the minimalist design principles with sustainable and natural materials.
Lex Pott is an established Dutch designer working for brands like HAY, &Tradition and Nomess Copenhagen. He designed this series for Maison Deux after becoming a dad for the first time!
He employs a raw and intuitive method to design. In his work, he returns to the origin of the materials he uses most: wood, stone and metal. He does not hide his designs under indirect layers, but reduces them to their very essence.
