Restaurant Spring Feast, Chaohu

A modern restaurant for

moments worth celebrating

Hi design lovers,

As you know, we’re always on the hunt for new cool design concepts to post about. Recently, we ran into this gem of a restaurant, located in Eastern China, and have been eager to show it to you. Ready to take a look at this mouth-watering space?

Spring Feast is a restaurant for conscious enjoyment - being present in the here and now. Located in Chaohu, a popular destination for tourists and wellness seekers, the stunning restaurant is surrounded by the Bantang hot springs, which were also the inspiration for the design.

Ippolito Fleit Group took charge of the design with the aim to translate the natural waterscape into a dynamic experiential space. A piece of writing from the Ming Period worked as an inspiration, and the result was two paths meeting in the restaurant - the diners can choose to enter down a staircase or wander through a lounge that offers a magnificent view over the landscape.

‘‘The mountain has two springs, one cold and one hot. At the start of their descent, hot and cold are still separate. As they mix, the fish, sensing the rise in temperature, leave the hot stream’’

Organic curves can be seen everywhere, as a form of respect for the surrounding natural landscape. Here and there, cave-like niches that look like those inside mountains, have been created.

The dynamics of the space arise from the interplay of the two main elements: nature and culture.

The walkways and seating areas are colored elegantly with earth tones, and the whole space is dominated by vibrant green plants that have been spread around the restaurant to create a sense of a jungle.

Walls, ceilings, and pathways have gotten their inspiration from the fluidity of flowing water, which explains the wavy patterning.

Spring Feast serves western-inspired cuisine and uses the regional spring water as its unique selling point. The water is being used everywhere - from dish preparation to drinking water. The restaurant’s signature dish, spring water eggs served with truffles and porcini mushrooms, was also created from it.

People with limited time can have a small robot to fix them a cup of coffee, by the coffee bar residing in the middle of the space. Now, how cool is that!
