Cool office space in Montreal

by Ivy Studio Inc

Hi design junkies,

Ivy Studio Inc, the Canadian architecture studio, strikes again with a cool new design project in Montreal. This time around it is an office space they designed for the Montreal-based digital advertising agency Cardigan.

Cardigan, needed a more spacious office to accommodate their growing team. They have moved into a new office and Ivy Studio Inc, has been in charge of the space’s redesigning.

Cardigan’s new office is located in the heart of the Rosemont borough of Montreal in a century-old building. It is built on two floors, a ground floor, and a basement, and each holds contrasting identities to the other.

The ground floor, mostly white and full of natural light, is where all workstations are placed. The basement, being bold-coloured, is where the bathrooms, kitchen, lounge, and storage are.

The ground floor is very spacious, luminous and open. Thanks to its spaciousness and its high ceiling, a mezzanine was added to a portion of the space, allowing more desks in the above part and meeting & call rooms in the closed space underneath.

The space featured beautiful architectural qualities in itself, so Ivy Studio’s intervention was meant to feel subtle. Hence why the existing moldings were kept intact and the newly-built mezzanine structure flowed with the curves of the existing space without competing with them.

The basement, in comparison to the ground floor, has low ceilings and no access to direct sunlight. It is for that reason that Ivy Studio decided to give that space its own unique futuristic aesthetic.

The rooms are all monochromatic, to increase the visual impact of the intense colours. The main kitchen is covered in bright baby blue hues, contrasting with the warm orange hues of the rooms on the periphery, the neutral matte grey colour palette of the sanitary block, and the reflective materials used.
