Celebrating 70 Years of Djeco:
A Legacy of Creativity and Innovation
—
In the heart of Paris, near the serene banks of the Seine, Djeco, the renowned toy company, celebrates a remarkable milestone this year—its 70th birthday. Founded in 1954 by the visionary Véronique Michel-Dalès, Djeco has flourished from its humble beginnings into a global beacon of creativity and playfulness.
Djeco's journey began with Véronique Michel-Dalès, a trailblazer who defied conventions of her time by starting "Les Jeux du Djeco," a collection of toys that seamlessly blended education with fun. Her creations quickly captivated hearts, earning her 4 prestigious Toy Oscars in the 1960s. This early success laid the foundation for what would become a family legacy.
In 1989, Véronique's son, Frédéric Michel-Dalès, took the reins of the company. Drawing from his childhood experiences as the chief tester of his mother's inventions, Frédéric revitalised Djeco, infusing it with a renewed spirit of imagination and innovation, expanding its global reach and creating unique toys loved by children and adults alike.
Based in Paris, Djeco's team of 70 artists, designers, and inventors craft over 1600 high-quality, safe toys annually, emphasising innovation. They prioritise sustainability with 79% of wood and cardboard products FSC® certified and eco-friendly packaging. Djeco's products, with game rules and packaging translated into 10 languages, captivate imaginations in over 70 countries.
Beyond commercial success, Djeco partners with the "Blouses Roses" association to support hospitalised children, reflecting their commitment to social responsibility.
To celebrate their 70th anniversary, Djeco launched a charitable puzzle campaign. Winners of the "La Petite Boutique Djeco" boxes not only receive iconic toys but also contribute to the well-being of hospitalised children, reflecting Djeco's enduring commitment to spreading happiness.
As Djeco enters its eighth decade, its iconic gecko symbolizes a mission to inspire global creativity and enrich childhoods with passion and whimsy. Celebrating 70 years isn't just about a brand; it's a legacy of sparking curiosity, imagination, and joy worldwide, ensuring Djeco remains a timeless champion of the childlike spirit for generations to come.
