Times are hard for everyone, and those who run medium to small sized brands are definitely walking a rough path right now. Since we’re all in for supporting ethical and small labels, we had to create this selection of brands worth supporting during this complicated moment we are going through. Have a look at what we’ve gathered here to show you!
Bohème Lisboa
If you keep up with us then you probably already heard about this one in a previous article we wrote. Bohème Lisboa is a Portuguese jewelry brand created in 2017. All of their pieces are made in Portugal, with silver sterling and silver sterling plated gold.
Mia Colonia
Now that we are spending more time at home, we figured is a good moment to get some scented candles and home fragrancies to leave the house perfumed. Mia Colonia has launched its new collection of scented candles at Maison & Objet this year, and they are too good not to be shared with you all. Made with biodegradable, non-toxic, 100 % vegetable blend wax, this collection is all about the scent and the music - each scent was created with a specific song in mind from the Italy of the ‘60s.
Alaena Cosmetics
Another one of our favorites, the French Alaena Cosmetics is an organic and conscious family business. They select the best organic ingredients to create the most effective products available in the natural skincare market. Alaena’s products are made with organic vegetable oils and high quality floral waters. If you want to know more about them, read this previous article we wrote.
Keecie
Keecie is a Dutch leather brand founded in 2007. And yes, you’ve heard of it before here at Design Hunger! We wrote an article on them and interviewed the founder Klaartje de Hartog. Keecie manufactures stylish and practical leather goods with a vintage touch we just love!
Joplins
Joplins’ main purpose is to promote a more ecologically sustainable lifestyle. For this, they have created frames made of sustainable materials such as bamboo, recycled wood, recycled wood with cotton and vegetal acetate. Alona sunglasses are made with vegetal acetate and recycled wood, and has 9 layers of protection on its lenses.
Valerie Delobal
This incredible porcelain designer based in France has caught our attention a while ago. We simply love Delobal’s minimal designs and the beautiful color palettes chosen for the pieces. Harmonious and clean, these porcelains might just be the missing pieces of a perfect interior decoration. You can check them all on her Instagram.
Seemsoap
Seemsoap is another French brand we simply adore because of their unique view on soap. Much more than just a utility, for them soap is like a sculptural piece, that’s why they develop them in such exclusively bold shapes and colors. The products are manually produced from a vegetable soap base and using natural ingredients only.
And of course we could never leave the little ones out of this selection! So we have a couple of kids’ brands to show you too.
Lavandiska
Yep, another one you’ve already seen here! The Portuguese brand founded in 2015 uses local materials and techniques to make high-quality apparel for children, including clothes, toys and decoration. Lavandiska now has this new lovely terrazzo print we are just obsessing over!
YPORQUÉ
Yporqué is a Spanish brand based in Barcelona which bets on the creativity and graphic boldness of its pieces to appeal to the little ones, all made in Europe. Their philosophy is to create designs thinking about the ones who will wear them, in this case, the kids! We are especially obsessing over their collection of sandals, have a look:
