Hello, design junkies!
You know we love to show you different and unique designs, but today that concept goes far away with a design that comes straight out of a dream! We are very excited to present you the outstanding Hortensia Armchair by Andrés Reisinger & Júlia Esqué.
The story of this magical armchair starts with one question that Andrés Reisinger asked himself before starting his iconic product with Júlia Esqué: “What would be the softest place on earth to lay your head to rest?”.
The designers wondered how to design a safe place for the comfort of our homes, somewhere calm, soft where we would feel soothed. The idea came straight away, the comfort and beauty of a blossoming Hortensia flower. The volume and softness of the blooming pompons in a soft pink colour would be the perfect place.
It started as a viral social media 3D render (we posted it!) A product that only existed in a dreamscape world. As soon it went viral, it gained multiple questions and order requests. Trying to answer the positive feedback, the designers started to think about how to transform their iconic chair into a real-life product.
Struggling to find a way to bring life to their product. The Hortensia Armchair soon gains the connotation of: “The chair that can’t be made”.
Later, they successfully created a limited edition of the Hortensia Armchair but wishing it could be a widely available product. When they started working alongside Moooi that the Hortensia Armchair enters the phase they were dreaming of being available in interiors all around the world.
“The Hortensia Armchair’s signature petal fabric is made from over 30.000 laser-cut petals to create that feeling of sitting in a flower.’ - Júlia Esqué.
The designer, expertise in textile design, was a fundamental piece to transform this design into an organic and comfortable replica of nature.
The artist and designer Andrés Reisinger is known for his conceptual immersive 3D visuals that bridge the imagined and tangible. Júlia Esqué is a product designer with a focus on textile design. The Hortensia Armchair truly shows the designer's assets and values, merging their best talents, giving life to this magical chair.
