When Champagne Meets Contemporary Art: Ruinart x Tadashi Kawamata

Ruinart Unveils Conversations with Nature

Featuring Tadashi Kawamata

Maison Ruinart reveals a new chapter of its acclaimed art initiative, Conversations with Nature, this time in collaboration with Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata. The international art series invites leading artists to reinterpret the relationship between human beings and the environment, exploring themes of sustainability, biodiversity and ecological awareness.

The project was first presented in Paris at the Palais de Tokyo, before travelling to Ruinart’s emblematic address, 4 Rue des Crayères, in the heart of the Champagne region.

In Situ Art Rooted in Nature

Renowned for his in situ installations constructed from reclaimed wood and fragments of furniture, Kawamata creates immersive structures in the form of shelters, nests and walkways. Visitors are invited to climb, pass through and experience these works physically, shifting their perspective on scale, fragility and the natural world.

Inspired by the morning mist over the vineyards of Reims and the subtle life of birds and insects, Kawamata developed a series of drawings, maquettes and monumental wooden installations. The final works — Tree Hut, Nest and Observatory — act as poetic refuges, echoing both the vulnerability and resilience of nature.

Art, Champagne and Savoir-Faire

This collaboration highlights Ruinart’s commitment to art, terroir and sustainable craftsmanship. Alongside the installations, Kawamata has designed a limited edition collector’s piece to house a Jeroboam of Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, reinforcing the Maison’s identity as the historic champion of Chardonnay.

Founded in 1729, Ruinart continues to champion a conscious art of living, merging champagne, culture and environmental responsibility.

With Conversations with Nature, the Maison affirms that contemporary art can serve as both reflection and catalyst — reminding us that the future of luxury lies in harmony with nature.
