—
We are happy to introduce you this unique new brand, handmade in France by Anna Bianco: FOVE, NOUVEAU TRADITIONNEL.
FOVE is specialised in woven textile design. The brand keeps the production 100% artisanal and mixes it with modern and graphic designs. For this collection, Anna found inspiration in modern art and minimalist paintings, as we can see on her elaborated woven prints.
FOVE creates unique art pieces to decorate our homes. All fabrics are produced in France with a specific French technique.
We had the pleasure to meet Anna Bianco, the founder/designer, and ask her a few questions to share with you!
Hello Anna,
First of all, congratulations for this amazing new brand. We love it! Now, could you tell us more about yourself ?
Well, I’m a french designer based in Biarritz. I studied art and fashion design at the HEAD in Geneva, I travelled and worked in the fashion area around the world during 6 years to finally back in France.
During this travel I worked for huge companies based in Indonesia and North America, It was an amazing experiences where I discovered the other face of fashion, part of globalization and massive consumption where the collections changing every months, the target was fast fashion where we abandoned the part of creativity, design quality, to use cheapest quality again and again.
That’s for all this reasons I decided to back in France and start my own project based on quality and french knowledges « slow design project ».
Could you tell us more about you?
I was born in the north of France, than raised on the French Riviera. I studied in Paris and I moved to Scotland a year after graduating. I have two master degrees in Fine Arts, which I did in two different schools at the same time (ENSAPC and Université Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne). I do like to have my feet simultaneously on different grounds, between cultures. That keeps me on the move and in constant questioning.
I took some time off from my day job to focus on getting the studio on track, but literally until the day before I put the website online, I was at the studio all day and evenings I would spend working at a restaurant – I liked the flexibility and the kind of stability of hospitality. I never agreed to settle on a 9-5 job as I always wanted to save time for my ideas.
And can you tell us more about FOVE?
Fove is a textile design brand; The fabric is the first essential part of our work. I develop the textile part and after we develop finish products, like cushion, plaid, lighting for interior goal.
Fove is a really new project, It’s a story of a meeting between me and Helene Biasiolo, a fashion designer and interior designer. She open me the voice of « interior design » where I saw all the creative and economic advantages. In the futur I would love focus and propose only fabric or my textile design for other company.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Fove Studio concept is based on the encounter between tradition and modernity hence our slogan « new traditional ». I like playing with the textures, lines et colors, like a painting. Also I was inspirited by the Fauvisme ( back to the color) to use for the brand name.
The most part of my inspiration comes from the abstract and contemporain painting ( Ellsworth Kelly, Malevitch and the new generation of contemporain art like Ann Sophie Tshiegg, Claire Desjardins, Britt Bass etc…)
What was the biggest challenge during the creation of your new brand?
I guess the most stressful thing I experienced was finding good suppliers. It was a very long process and it gave me serious trust issues. When you do things for the first time, finding someone who fits your quality standards and whom you can rely on happens to be very challenging. But when you find them they become the most precious thing you have.
What about the most stressful memory on launching Fove?
The first exhibition in Quartier Moderne, it was the first time I show my univers.
Any new projects coming soon?
Of course, I work on the next collection of Fove and I have a beautiful proposal to expose my work and create for an art exhibition In Biarritz, a series of weaved art boards. What is your morning routine?
What is your morning routine like?
Hahah, I would love say, « every morning I practice my yoga, I drink a fresh healthy juice …. but the reality is just wake up fastly, change and wear my little boy, run, run , run and finally drink a coffee. That’s all, that’s my reality
And finally, what is your favorite city in the world ?
Melbourne for me is the number 1 best city ever, creativity, opportunity and sunny people :)
Thank you, Anna :)
