Located in Beijing, China, Baoyan Park is an entertainment and amusement park brand that operates 10 multi-function facilities including movie theaters, restaurants, indoor water parks and other types of recreational offerings for both kids and grown ups.

Designed by Shanghai-based X+Living, this is Bayoan’s largest facility. A brand new 8,500 square-metre park in Beijing, upon which the designers took a critical look at the previously existing facilities.

Chief designer Li Xiang along with project directors Ren Lijiao and Wu Feng concluded that what that park needed was a more harmonious color palette and a clearer layout in order to define the concept and differentiate it from other similar entertainment centers.

So what they did first was separate wet and dry areas clearly. This way, right from the moment they enter the park, the guests are directed straight to either the water park or the other leisure areas available.

The water park is a fantasy-land in pastel colors where the deeper water pool, paddling and play areas are distinctly separated, making it easier for parents to keep their children in safe spaces under their sight.

The restaurant (which offers Western-style food including pizza and pasta) was designed with both parents and children in mind, so it features play areas and tables coexisting within each space.

Apart from that, there is also the mini city zone: a magical world where children are able to exercise their creativity through building and modeling with blocks and other elements.

Plus, this is a simulated city where children can dress up and learn about the different occupations and professions. From doctors to teachers, firefighters to police officers, all is possible. And meanwhile, the parents can rest in seats integrated in the space! Isn’t it just a dream?

With a playful and imaginative approach, the designers have created a space that is not just perfect for children but that also gives adults access to their own space and ideal vantage points where they can watch their kids having fun without worries.
