Egeo Madrid: Masquespacio’s Modern Ode to Ancient Greece

A new chapter unfolds for Egeo, where myth, materiality,

and emotion converge in the heart of Madrid

The latest project by Masquespacio brings a quieter kind of drama to Egeo Madrid — a 50-square-metre souvlaki restaurant that reimagines Greek tradition through a mature and introspective lens.

While the studio is often recognised for its bold use of colour, this new design draws on the myth of Pandora, evoking the dualities of difficulty and hope. Soft beige tones meet electric blue accents, while 3D-printed columns rise like sculptural relics — layered, tactile, and seemingly carved from time itself.

The result is a calmer, almost meditative palette that brings ancient Greek forms into a quiet contemporary language.

A Dialogue Between Past and Present

Inside, light, texture, and sculptural rhythm take centre stage. The stratified walls recall ancient marble quarries, yet their geometry feels unmistakably modern — a deliberate contrast that showcases Masquespacio’s ability to bridge history with contemporary expression.

For art director Ana Hernández, the project was less about literal references and more about building an emotional atmosphere. The team explored how carved surfaces, shifting shadows, and compressed volumes could introduce depth and introspection — turning the compact restaurant into a space that unfolds gradually, almost like a story revealed in fragments.

This approach mirrors Egeo’s decade-long evolution: a brand that has grown in identity and confidence. Here, Greek gastronomy meets a contemporary spatial poetry shaped by intention and restraint — a balance that renders the restaurant both grounded in its roots and strikingly modern.

Contemporary Expression of Greek Soul

In Egeo Madrid, Masquespacio offers more than a dining room — it delivers a mood, a mythology, and a reinterpretation of Greek soul through design. The result is a place where history feels reimagined, where craft shapes emotion, and where ancient stories quietly meet the present.
