Casa Capirote: A Contemporary Ode to Seville’s Soul
Triana tradition, natural light, and modern elegance meet
in this fluid new home in Seville
—
In a sunlit corner of Seville, a new home reimagines the city’s heritage through a lens of quiet sophistication. Designed by Alejandro Cateto and the studio CatetoCateto, Casa Capirote fuses Andalusian craftsmanship with contemporary sensitivity, creating a space that honours memory while embracing modernity.
A Fluid Layout, Designed for Living
At the heart of Casa Capirote is a commitment to openness in a fluid layout. This is not a home divided by walls but one shaped by rhythm and need. Lightweight curtains float through the space, gently separating zones without ever closing them off. The result is an apartment where social gathering and quiet solitude flow into one another — adaptable, breathable, alive.
A Story Told Through Light, Texture and Surfaces
The palette is unmistakably Sevillian: warm earth tones paired with sage greens, a subtle nod to the landscapes and tiled courtyards of the region. Natural light is a central element, spilling through the apartment to soften lines and illuminate the materials — from the textured lime mortar walls to the glossy ceramic accents that recall Triana’s artisanal legacy.
Triana pottery, a beloved hallmark of Sevillian design, inspired key details throughout the apartment: geometric patterns on the bed headboard, handcrafted beams, and even the ceramic sink basin. These thoughtful inclusions ground the space in its local context, while contemporary furniture forms and clean-lined accessories keep things elegant and current.
Where History Meets Harmony
By choosing traditional finishes like lime mortar and pairing them with fluid spatial planning and modern furnishings, Casa Capirote becomes more than a place to live. It becomes a study in contrast and continuity. This is a home that reflects Seville not just in structure, but in spirit: expressive, grounded, and quietly radiant.
Casa Capirote isn’t just another apartment in Seville — it’s a reimagined canvas of the city’s aesthetic traditions, brought to life for a new generation.
