The Dreamy Universe of Helle Mardahl
Magic, dreams, and indulgence
in the form of glass objects
—
Hey Design Lovers,
We are excited to introduce you to one of our favourite glass artists, Copenhagen-based Helle Mardahl, and her wonderful work. Keep reading and become acquainted with the peerless talent.
Helle Mardahl, is an artist, designer, and London’s Central Saint Martins graduate. She works with glass objects in her Copenhagen-based studio bearing the same name.
Sculpture, installation, painting, fashion, and interior design are the cornerstones of Mardahl’s work. In the richly coloured designs, one can experience a sense of luxuriousness combined with powerfulness.
As a designer, she pays attention to the beauty of contrasts - creating items that succeed to be fragile yet durable, and simple yet decorative.
In the studio itself, art and functionality meet and greet. The designs are influenced by childhood memories and iconic films, like Alice in Wonderland and Charlie & The Chocolate Factory.
All the objects are one-of-a-kind and crafted from mouth-blown glass.
Earlier this year, an artistic collaboration between Helle Mardahl and Elhanati, a Danish handcrafted jewellery brand, was created.
The collaboration, carrying the name “Nothing Grows in a Straight Line,” explores the fascination of the unpredictable.
The focus of the collaboration is on jewellery boxes as art objects, uniting soft glass and enchanting gold.
We are truly in love with these designs and are excited to see what Helle creates next!
