The Lighting Brand That Made Us Fall in Love With Murano Glass All Over Again
Vetro, founded in Copenhagen, designs mouth-blown Murano glass lamps produced by hand in Italy. Colourful, considered, and built to last.
—
It started with a single Sommerso vase from the 1970s, one piece of coloured Murano glass and the kind of obsession that doesn't let go. For Vetro founder Mette Bloom, that fascination soon turned into a collection and eventually a lighting brand.
Today, the Copenhagen based company creates its own collection of handcrafted Murano glass lamps, produced in collaboration with glassblowers on the Venetian island.
The Craft
Every Murano glass lamp is unique. No two are exactly alike, as each piece is shaped by hand at temperatures above 1,000 degrees. The colours are created using metal oxides fused directly into the glass, resulting in rich tones that won't fade over time.
The Collection
The collection includes pendant lights, wall lamps and table lamps in shades ranging from cream and amber to bordeaux, amethyst and cobalt blue. A recurring detail is the signature Rigadin pattern, a traditional Murano technique characterised by delicate ribbing that catches and reflects light beautifully.
Our Favourite Ways to Style It
One of the things we love most about Vetro's lamps is how easily they adapt to different interiors.
In a Minimal Room
In pared-back spaces, a Vetro lamp acts as a sculptural focal point, adding colour and character without cluttering the room. One piece is enough.
In a Bold and Colourful Room
In more expressive interiors, the lamps feel completely at home. The handcrafted glass and vibrant colours hold their own without competing.
In a Kids Room
Playful, tactile and full of personality, Vetro lamps bring warmth and a sense of the handmade to children's spaces.
Vetro is the kind of brand that reminds you what a considered object can do to a room. Not through excess, but through the quiet confidence of something made by hand, with the right material, by people who know exactly what they are doing.
Vetro ships worldwide and has a showroom in Copenhagen.
