“I love the simplicity in the design as much as the emotional character of the artefacts,” states Filippo Protasoni, the designer of Akoya for Fabbian, when speaking about his work.
Born in 1980, Protasoni studied in Italy and Norway, where he deepened his knowledge of product and interior design, developing a distinctive methodology that he applies to different design projects.
After working with international studios and professionals, including Emmanuel Babled and Markus Benesch Creates, Filippo Protasoni founded his Milan-based studio in 2009.
His portfolio spans lighting, furniture, industrial and textile products, commercial spaces, interiors, and exhibitions, with recent projects focusing on visual design for luxury brands.
The concept behind the Akoya collection, comprising wall and indoor pendant lamps, was to communicate light from an emotional perspective while maintaining a rational approach.
The design draws inspiration from nature: a shell encasing a precious pearl, expressed through graphic synthesis and free from unnecessary decoration.
The Akoya collection draws inspiration from the geometric evolution of a circumference, transforming from a circle into a sphere to evoke a shell cradling a pearl of light. Reflecting the pearl’s symbolic perfection and natural simplicity, these lamps harmonise effortlessly with architectural spaces.
The collection includes wall lamps and indoor pendants, featuring two metal discs in white, anthracite, or Corten finishes, paired with a blown glass diffuser and a dimmable LED light source.
Experience Akoya, where Filippo Protasoni blends light, elegance, and minimalist design in perfect harmony.
