The Bar of Plaza Athénée: Where Heritage and Design Define the Art of the Evening
An iconic Parisian bar shaping nightlife on Avenue Montaigne
—
Located at 25 Avenue Montaigne, Hôtel Plaza Athénée has welcomed travellers, creatives and tastemakers since 1913, setting the standard for Parisian luxury hospitality.
Today, The Bar of Plaza Athénée carries the legacy into the night, embracing a bold, contemporary identity to remain one of the city’s most iconic evening destinations.
Interior Design Inspired by Haute Couture and Craft
The bar’s contemporary re-design by Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku introduces a dreamlike atmosphere that contrasts and complements the building’s classical architecture. A palette of deep blues and warm browns grounds the space, while the ceiling disappears beneath sculptural wreaths of fabric, recalling the drape and movement of haute couture gowns.
At the centre, an oversized bar crafted from transparent resin appears to levitate, becoming both a functional focal point and a piece of contemporary design.
Custom seating details draw inspiration from vintage luxury cars, designed with elegant saddler stitching adding tactile depth. As evening falls, glass disk-shaped lamps glow softly like a string of pearls on a necklace, creating an intimate ambience that shifts the bar seamlessly from day to night.
Champagne, Cocktails and the Art of the Evening Ritual
Beyond its interior design, The Bar of Plaza Athénée is defined by its exceptional drinks offering. Since October 2018, it has showcased an exclusive collection of Dom Pérignon white and rosé champagnes, including rare Vintage, P2 and P3 cuvées, as well as large formats such as Magnum, Jeroboam and Mathusalem.
This unparalleled selection, unavailable anywhere else in the world, reinforces the bar’s status as a destination for collectors and connoisseurs alike.
Whether savoured on site or selected for a private cellar, each glass becomes part of a refined Parisian ritual, where history, design and taste converge.
At the intersection of heritage and contemporary design, The Bar of Plaza Athénée remains a Parisian nightlife icon, shaped by atmosphere, craftsmanship and a distinct contemporary identity.
