MOTE is a new brand, created by Vora in Seoul, Korea.

Her design philosophy: “capture the beautiful moments of the earth into products.”

“MOTE is an artisan laboratory that studies and produces moments found in the scent, colors and imagery of the earth. We strive to capture the essence of beautiful fleeting messages that the earth sends us. The occasional crashing of waves and the scent of a dense forest. The rain and the snow. Fog and sunset, summer and winter. Day and night. These changes in nature heal our body and souls.”

The brand offers 3 kind of products: marble soaps (handcrafted with 100% organic ingredients, vegetable oil, paraben free, sulfate free, gluten free).

The brand also offers beautiful design trays inspired by diverse moments of terrains from earth to showcase your MOTE soaps.

They come in 4 pastel colors and you can mix your own set. The BATHROOM TRAY is inspired by the dune texture; the SOAP TRAY by the terrace shape, the TOOTHBRUSH TRAY by the doline shape and the TOOTHPASTE TRAY by the crater.

You can use them all together (or not), mix the colors (or not). It looks perfect, an elegant way to avoid the mess in our bathroom.

The last product of the brand is the fragrance ceramic candle. They come in a lovely clay pot with a marble texture (that even diffuse the sent when the candle is not lit). They are made from organic soy that is free of phthalate parabens or other preservatives (no chemical additives) = safer for our bodies.

These candles are also a decoration object as they are made by an expert potter who marbles each.

Hello Vora! We have 5 questions for you :

Could you tell us more about the yourself?

My name is Vora Jeon and I am the co-founder also creative director at MOTE.

After I graduated studying in design in Korea, I used to work as a graphic designer at enterprise-sized companies. However, to pursuit my passion in expressing my own creative works in order to spread some positive aspects of designs and bring more values to people. That’s why I quit my job and started MOTE.

Why did you create MOTE?

There is a lot of products on the market that are contained toxic chemical ingredients with products, which it can be lethal to our body, however, most of companies use them in order to produced and manufacture them much quicker and easier so that they could make a lot of profits. After I realized these facts, I wanted to create MOTE with much safer and trust-worthy products, but still wants MOTE to have got majestic looks—so I decided to work with my co-founder, Jin-Wan Joo, who is a chemist and craftsman, so that we could bring the same vision that I’ve had. These days, still, we are trying to keep this philosophy and passion even though it may take some time to produce every single product and we proud of it.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

My inspiration comes from the gratitude and tranquility of nature.

I like to travel and experience different countries as much as I can. When I experience these beautiful countries, I feel that everyone has wonders about nature and gratitude of being exist on the earth. Through the moments on the earth, I believe people and the earth are constantly communicating and sharing good sides of each other.

Could you tell us more about the production process?

All products are based on craftsmanship and designs are produced at MOTE inside.

Marbled soaps, which are carefully made by hand to hand and it takes 1008 hours to aging them. Craftsmen make ceramics one by one and bake them three times— every single candle has different kinds of marbled patterns which it makes them to have each identity and uniqueness. Trays are made of mineral terazo components which have high-resistant of moisture and prevent germs and bacteria.

Any new products / events / project coming soon?

We have started to create a new line for MOTE perfume— diffusers and car scents. We are planning to launch new line this year and more in the near future. Also, we are going to participate at the Maison & Objet Paris on September.
