VEJA Opens Its Biggest Store in the World in Lisbon

The French sneaker brand has landed on Rua da Boavista with its first Portuguese store, and its biggest anywhere in the world

Lisbon has a new sneaker destination. VEJA has opened its first store in Portugal, transforming a former garage on Rua da Boavista into the brand’s largest store in the world. The project was designed by Plantea Estudio, the Madrid-based architecture studio also behind VEJA’s Madrid store.

We joined VEJA for the opening dinner and got a first look inside.

More Than a Sneaker Store

The vast, raw space feels part shop, part exhibition. A dedicated area brings together VEJA collaborations and archive pieces, creating a mini museum of the brand’s history alongside the current collections.

There is also a repair workshop, where customers can bring their VEJA sneakers for cleaning and repairs, extending their life rather than replacing them.

For runners, a dedicated sports area comes with a treadmill for testing VEJA running shoes  or you can take them outside for a proper run.

Kids get their own space too, complete with a play area featuring modular pieces by Danish brand MODU, also available to buy in store. And for anyone who loves a good find, there are past-season styles, prototypes and pairs with small imperfections at reduced prices.

It is a store designed to discover VEJA beyond the sneakers: its history, collaborations, running universe, repair programme and approach to giving products a longer life.
