Hotel Le Provençal: A Riviera Icon Reimagined - France

An iconic family hotel on the Giens Peninsula

finds new life through design and heritage

Tucked away on the sun-drenched Giens Peninsula in the South of France, Hotel Le Provençal has been a symbol of Mediterranean charm since 1951. Now, over 70 years later, the iconic family hotel reopens with a bold new vision led by French designer and architect Rodolphe Parente, and the founder’s grandsons, Damien and Benjamin Piffet.

Their goal? To preserve the spirit of the original, sincere hospitality, while reinterpreting it for a new generation of design lovers and Riviera dreamers.

Design that Feels Like Summer

Parente’s redesign weaves emotion and geometry into every detail. Think cherry-red, dark oak lobby, and flowing drapes that mirror the Mediterranean breeze. Each space feels like a curated scene: part vintage cinema, part contemporary atelier, wholly South of France.

Materials reflect the surroundings — straw walls, warm cork, and terracotta tones — creating interiors that are tactile, grounded, and effortlessly chic.

With 37 rooms and 4 suites, Le Provençal offers quiet luxury in every corner. Rooms are outfitted with vintage-inspired headboards, Fragonard bath products, and views that swing between hilltop village and open sea. Earthy textures and thoughtful detailing evoke a Riviera nostalgia without slipping into cliché.

Two Restaurants: La Rascasse & La Brasserie

The hotel’s two legendary restaurants return with fresh energy.

  • La Brasserie is playful, with formica accents, sunshine palettes, and a laid-back energy with classic charm and bistro feel.

  • La Rascasse, perched over the bay, leans elegant and seasonal, with an emphasis on vegetables, freshness, and locally sourced cuisine.

And just across the street, Villa Barret adds a new chapter: natural wines and small plates in a setting that’s both relaxed and refined.

More Than a Hotel, a Destination

Set in a lush two-hectare Mediterranean park, Le Provençal features a saltwater pool carved into the rock, art-lined corridors, a spa and 160m² panoramic terrace newly opened in 2025. It's a place to pause, return, and reconnect with the art of Southern living.

This is more than a hotel. It’s a rebirth. A design-led sanctuary that bridges the past and present, tradition and reinvention, all under the soft Riviera sun.
