Lisbon Guide: Restaurants 2.0

Restaurants that’ll truly

make your Lisbon trip special

Lisbon keeps surprising us with its impeccable restaurant and bar scene, which is why we’ve decided to show you some more of our favourite places for lunch, dinner, and drinks in the beautiful Portuguese capital. Try them out when you’re in the city, you won’t be disappointed!

Taberna Moderna, Campo da Cebolas

Hidden behind large blue shutters is the best of both worlds. A restaurant that serves a delicious variety of food and a gin bar that offers over 80 different Gin & Tonics (and of course other cocktails) for those who only are there to have a drink.

  • Lively atmosphere with music and authentic quirky decoration;

  • Creative specialties of food from different origins particularly from the Iberian Peninsula from the black cuttlefish rice, the ox, or the braised tuna;

SEM, Alfama

At SEM you will truly appreciate the little details, from the food to the principles of the restaurant. It’s a place where you’ll be supporting local farmers and fighting food waste, whilst enjoying an incredible meal.

  • Six part tasting menu created strictly with products available from regenerative agriculture producers;

  • Never expect the same menu due to constant changes evolving in symbiosis with micro- seasonal changes in Portugal;

Rosamar, Príncipe Real

As most newcomers do, when they come to Lisbon they want to try great seafood, well then Rosamar is the place. Rosamar is a sustainable seafood grill & oyster bar in the heart of Príncipe Real.

  • Beautiful interior, inside and outside with two floors and an open kitchen;

  • Large variety of delicious seafood options from Octopus tostadas to their shrimp tacos… their menu is filled with mouthwatering dishes;

  • Wine menu with a large variety of cocktails to choose from to match with your meals;

Agua Pela Barba, Bica

Agua Pela Barba is a cosy and casual restaurant located in the heart of Lisbon. You can enjoy delicious small plates and vegetarian options at this place, accompanied by great cocktails or quality wines.

  • The restaurant focuses on seafood with a twist. You can find some amazing fish tacos, clam and shrimp risottos, and grilled octopus on the list. We’d also recommend trying their mixed ceviche and burrata with shrimp;

  • Go there for lunch and dinner, or just get some drinks from the bar on site.

Kefi Greek Bistro, Estrela

We are huge fans of Gefi Greek Bistro because of its tasty dishes, delicious cocktails, and trendy interior. This special restaurant, located in Estrela, has a modern Greek menu that will pamper the taste buds.

  • In the wide and lovely menu, you can find everything from grilled pita, fries, and salad to moussaka, meatballs, and kalamarakia. It’s hard to choose favourites, but we’ll have to give extra mention to the heavenly saganaki;

  • Plates are good for sharing if you wish to try out different kinds of dishes;

Boavista Social Club, Bica

Boavista definitely passes our vibe check. This cool and intimate restaurant and bar has one of the most vibrant streets of Lisbon as its home and serves natural wines and tasty dishes with a DJ playing vinyl records in the background.

  • Excellent wines and cocktails, and good small plates to share. Interesting and variable menu with delicious dishes and unique flavours;

  • A restaurant that turns into a laid-back bar in the late hours;

  • Reservation for dining is recommendable, as this place is very popular and tends to get crowded.

Bairro do Avillez, Chiado

Jose Avillez created a neighborhood that promises to have mouth-watering food, with spacious and delicious areas where you can eat different foods for different tastes.

Taberna

  • If you are more of a light snack afternoon person, this is the place to go;

  • Our suggestions include cheese and charcuterie by Manteigaria Silva, tuna steak sandwich with vinegary vegetables, Iberian pork steak, and, for dessert, salted caramel.

Páteo

  • Here the meals are meant to be shared, as the good Portuguese tradition dictates.

Cervejeiria Sem Vergonha, Estrela

Francisco Nobre opened a beer garden and seafood restaurant with chef Carlos Carneiro who is in charge of the kitchen to create a beautiful full menu.

  • The shellfish comes from the Guincho fish farms, and the fish comes from the Ribeira Market;

  • On the menu, you have cold starters like oysters or tuna tartare but also hot starters like prawns al ajillo, fried cuttlefish, and countless shellfish dishes;

  • You have a variety of fish but also meat on the menu;

  • They have an outside area with a swimming pool.
