LRNCE is born

LRNCE was founded in 2013 by Belgian sun chaser Laurence Leenaert, who revises materials’ purpose and spontaneously combines elements to create unique designed pieces. This empire of artisan folklore ships worldwide a selection known for its ceramics and textiles. However, if you are old-fashioned, you can visit the studio in the industrial area, Sidi Ghanem, just fifteen minutes outside the center of Marrakesh.
The plot of the LRNCE story is that the founder started the company in 2013 after studying at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent but she wasn’t feeling inspired by Belgium culture, so she moved to Morocco to find a purpose and then created this amazing brand there.
Paintings, textiles, mirrors, and, our favorite, ceramics. The style of this Moroccan brand takes us back to Picasso, with his geometric shapes and raw canvas paintings, where getting your hands dirty had a je ne sais quoi.
Following the artist's footsteps, Leenaert creates their own modern and vibrant version, which perfectly fits into the Western interior.
The pottery is made from terracotta clay from the coastal town Safi, the Moroccan pottery capital. From there, it is transported to Marrakech, where local craftsmen make the ceramic pieces after Leenaerts' design. All the ceramics are handmade and hand-painted.
