Design in Every Corner: Lisbon Design Week 2025 Returns Bigger Than Ever
Lisbon Design Week 2025 Returns with More Makers,
New Neighbourhoods, and a Citywide Celebration of Creativity
—
Lisbon Design Week (LDW) is back from 28 May to 1 June, and it’s bigger and more inspiring than ever. Now in its third edition, LDW 2025 is set to take over the city with five days of exhibitions, talks, open studios, workshops, and pop-up events, celebrating the very best of Portuguese and international design.
With over 95 participating spaces and more than 250 Makers, this year’s Lisbon Design Week isn’t just keeping pace with the city’s creative energy, it’s actively fuelling it.
The 2025 edition expands into two new neighbourhoods, Ajuda/Belém/Restelo and Beato/Marvila, stretching the design trail into Lisbon’s up-and-coming cultural corners. From minimalist galleries to sunlit ateliers and concept shops, the city transforms into an interactive design map, waiting to be explored.
To help guide the journey, LDW now has a brand-new bilingual digital platform where you can build your own itinerary, explore by location or theme, and even revisit your favourite events after the week wraps.
Venues across the city will throw open their doors, from design studios and architecture offices to hotels and hidden courtyards. You’ll find live demos from craftspeople, limited-edition launches, collaborations between artists and brands, and plenty of after-hours magic.
This year’s official cultural hub is the stunning Hotel Locke de Santa Joana, a beautifully restored 17th-century convent that now lives as a boutique hotel and creative gathering place. It’s the perfect backdrop for Lisbon Design Week’s evolving spirit and citywide energy.
One of this year’s must-see highlights is João Bruno Videira’s immersive exhibition Nature | A Return to Matter, on view at DOMO in Santos from 28 to 31 May. Known for sculpting with wool, the artist debuts new pieces in burel—a traditional Portuguese felted wool—reimagined as stones, trunks, and vines in an environment designed to ground and awaken the senses.
With an original soundscape by Diogo Caetano and earthy forms that blur the line between nature and design, the installation invites you to slow down, step softly, and feel your way back to what matters.
From standout exhibitions to new talent showcases, the programme is packed with events you won’t want to miss—blending hands-on experiences with fresh perspectives from Portugal’s next generation of designers.
Whether you’re a seasoned designer, a curious newcomer, or just someone who loves a well-curated moment, Lisbon Design Week 2025 is your opportunity to dive into the creative spirit of the city. It’s a celebration of what happens when craft, culture, and community come together, and everyone’s invited.
